통치성 분석은 품행의 통솔, 진리를 주장하는 방식, 진리를 말할 권위가 있는 사람, 진리를 실행하는 방식, 진리를 실행하는 데 드는 대가와 관련된 특별한 진리체제의 출현에 대한 연구이다. 그리고 통치성 분석은 권력을 행사하고 특정한 문제에 개입하는 특정한 장치와 도구의 발명과 배치를 연구하는 것이다(p.19)
